Why ASKO

    Minimalist Scandinavian design

The combination of everyday functionality, environmental concern and clean lines is the principal hallmark of Scandinavian design – and that of ASKO. The fundamental idea is that our products should improve people’s quality of life.

To distinguish ourselves in a market of cluttered, complex and voluptuous designs, we aim for a soft, minimalist approach based on the principle of quiet being the new loud. The key elements of Scandinavian design – understated elegance, high-quality craftsmanship and natural materials – are reflected in ASKO’s design language.

    History of ASKO

In 1950, an enterprising young Swedish farmer named Karl-Erik Andersson set out to build his mother a different kind of washer. A unique, energy and water efficient machine which would reflect a farmer's love and respect for nature. A machine with superior cleaning power and reliability that could heat water, spin, and even boast durable, state-of-the-art, stainless steel drums.

The young farmer, surpassed even his meticulous mother's high standards. Karl-Erik Andersson and his family were so convinced of their innovative product, they built their world-class engineering and manufacturing facility right on the family farm, where it stands to this day.

Today, ASKO is an international brand with a full line of high-performance washers, dryers and dishwashers. ASKO Appliances still do a great job of cleaning with a fraction of the water, electricity and detergent of many other machines. Every component is constructed of steel rather than plastic wherever possible. And every ASKO product is still built with Scandinavian quality and environmental sensitivity, just as Karl-Erik Andersson intended.

In short, ASKO appliances are some of the best performing and most environmentally friendly. Made especially for those – like a certain Swedish mother – who appreciate durability, safety, premium performance and Scandinavian design.

Nature is an important part of Swedish life, caring for the environment has always been an integral part of our culture. For us, it’s not just about how much we use, but how little we waste in production, what occurs whilst our products are in use, and when they are disposed of.

Since 1999, ASKO factories have achieved environmental certification in accordance with ISO14001 Environmental Management System, which means everything is done as environmentally friendly as possible. We have recently upgraded our certification level to EMAS (the most credible environmental management tool on the market). The EMAS certification is awarded to organisations which have demonstrated continual improvement and focus on their environmental performance.

An example of this is all our laundry and dishwasher components that weigh more than 50 grams are labelled for recycling.

We’re proud to say our products are some of the most efficient on the market, saving precious energy resources and energy costs for our end users.
